Hikube storage SKU: Block Storage 3xReplicated (0.18 CHF/GB/month)

Hikube object SKU: S3 (0.02 CHF/GB/month)

AWS/Azure: 3 copies billed (EBS gp3 / LRS disk × 3) to match this Hikube geo mode (async = 2, sync = 3; not the same RPO).

Hyperscaler assumptions

Not Hikube SKUs. Public list-ish rates dated August 2026: m6i.large eu-central-1 and D2s_v5 West Europe ($0.115/h, 730 h/month), internet egress ~USD 0.09/GB, IPv4 $0.005/h, NAT and load balancer. EBS gp3 is single-AZ: 3 copies on sync to match Hikube 3-DC block. GCP is the same order of magnitude; this table compares AWS and Azure. Edit FX and egress.

Rate in use: 1 USD = 0.8 CHF

On-prem VMware assumptions

Indicative capex / opex, not a Broadcom quote. Broadcom does not publish a public price list; the figures are publicly observed, not an official grid, and the field is editable. Hosts, array and network are amortized over the selected period. PUE below is an on-prem assumption, not a Hikube published PUE.

Hikube: compute = public catalogue u1.large (80 CHF). Block storage = published geo-redundant NVMe SKU (3xReplicated sync or async 0.18 / 0.22 CHF/GB with encryption). No local block volume. S3 = 0.02 / 0.03 CHF/GB. Public IPv4 = 4 CHF/IP/month. Ingress = 32 CHF/month. Egress = Ingress Network OUT at 0 CHF. No IOPS, SLA or PUE published.

AWS / Azure: on-demand list-ish August 2026, m6i.large eu-central-1 and D2s_v5 West Europe at USD 0.115/h (730 h/month). EBS gp3 (~USD 0.10/GB) and LRS managed disk (~USD 0.12/GB) are single-AZ: async = 2 geo copies, sync = 3 copies to match Hikube 3-DC block, not a single volume. Sync and async do not share the same RPO. Egress USD 0.09/GB on by default (3 TB). Public IPv4 USD 0.005/h since 2024. Load balancer (ALB USD 0.0225/h + USD 0.008/GB HTTPS; Azure LB USD 0.025/h + USD 0.005/GB) when Hikube Ingress is in the scenario. NAT Gateway USD 0.045/h + USD 0.045/GB, typical for private subnets. S3 ~USD 0.023 / 0.02/GB. Converted at USD/CHF 0.80. Not Hikube SKUs.

VMware on-prem: license per physical core (min. 16 cores/CPU, 72-core order floor), host / SAN / network capex, maintenance, colo or energy, backup. Windows Server is a licensed image on Hikube instances, not a VMware replacement product; it is out of this TCO. GPU (14-day trial) is out of scope.

Hidora SA operates Hikube in three datacenters: Geneva, Gland, Lucerne. Indicative figures, excl. VAT, recalculated live. Not a Broadcom quote, not a Hikube quote. The the pricing page configurator remains the order catalogue.

What each column assumes

Hikube
Three Swiss datacenters, volume replication included in its price, with no high-availability surcharge. The control plane and the platform are operated by Hidora SA; your systems, applications and workload spreading stay yours. No recovery objective is published.
AWS and Azure
A European region, not a Swiss one, unless you change the assumption. The storage copy count is a model setting: it approximates a cost, it does not demonstrate an equivalent architecture, the same failover, or the same operational responsibility. Prices are list prices observed on the date shown, before negotiated discounts.
VMware on-premise
Your hardware, your room, your team. It is the only column where internal operations and OS licences are costed, because it is the only one where they are certainly yours : their absence elsewhere does not mean free, it means outside the model. The operating-cost comparison is therefore not symmetric, and that is deliberate.

What is compared

What the model counts, column by column. A missing line is not a free line, it is simply not priced here.

  • The model compares costs, not service levels: it does not show that the columns offer the same RPO/RTO, the same failover or the same split of responsibilities.
  • Multi-zone is brought to parity across the three columns: AWS/Azure storage is multiplied by the copy count of the chosen mode, and cross-zone replication traffic is billed, since Hikube includes it in the volume price. These are equivalence assumptions, not vendor SKUs.
  • Replication traffic follows the volume’s monthly change rate, editable above, not the total volume. The same cross-zone rate is applied to AWS and Azure: claiming a gap between them would need a source we do not have.
  • Internal ops is costed on the on-premise column only. Compare the totals excluding ops to stay symmetric.
  • Hyperscaler prices are August 2026 orders of magnitude, European regions, converted at 0.80 CHF/USD. Hikube is in Switzerland.
  • Backup, OS licences and support are priced on no cloud column: add them to your real budget.
